About Us
The Origins
Grand Master Martin T. Buell started martial arts training in 1953 and established the Universal Kempo-Karate Schools Association in 1981. Grand master trained not just in kempo karate but also in judo and kali. Making his style very unique compared to other kempo styles.

Prairie Winds Branch was started in July of 2014 when Instructor Greg Colbaugh realized he needed to move back home to Tennessee to help his family, and sold the martial arts school to Corey and Justine Jacobsen, two students of his for about 6 years.

Our Dojo
Prairie Winds Kempo focuses on the character of its students more than anything. We believe that when kids and adults choose to challenge themselves, they become better people in society. So, that is what we do.
We encourage, challenge, and motivate eachother to become better. Wherever you are, wherever your kid is, we will meet them there and do our best to bring them up. We are not "Safe Space Karate". We are a family, we make fun of each other, we challenge each other, but most importantly, we want everyone to get better.
