What do I wear to my first martial arts class? Do I need a gi?For your first couple of classes, we recommend wearing gym clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in. Gym clothes are suitable for kicking and punching, but they may rip during grappling, so wear something you don't mind getting damaged. If you decide to continue, we will provide you with a gi.

Do I need to be in good shape before starting martial arts training?No, you do not need to be in good shape before starting. Our training program is designed to help you get into shape as you progress through the ranking system. You will learn a series of exercises that will enable you to perform self-defense techniques effectively. Prairie Winds Kempo-Karate is here to support you every step of the way.

Does Prairie Winds Kempo spar during classes?Yes, we offer spar! Our peewee and junior classes spar once a month and wrestle every week. The adult class spar every Monday and grapples every Wednesday. Sparring is an essential part of our training, helping students apply techniques in a controlled environment.
